National strategy for urban development discussed

Salalah: The Secretariat General of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) organised a workshop on “Alternatives of Urban Strategy” at Sultan Qaboos Youth and Cultural Center in Salalah on Monday.
The workshop was organised under the patronage of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Minister of State, Governor of Dhofar.
The workshop was supervised by the SCP’s Secretariat General team of the National Strategy for Urban Development, in cooperation with the Office of the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar and the consultant supervising the preparation for the strategy of the governorate.
The workshop included a presentation on the mechanism of formulating alternatives of urban strategy at the level of the governorates and its stages, in addition to reviewing a number of themes including (Draft National Strategy for Urban Development /Draft Regional Strategy), the urban development alternatives at the regional level and the expected impacts of each alternative on population, socioeconomic and environmental aspects in the Governorate of Dhofar.
