Muscat: A furniture company employee has been sentenced to three months prison for unfairly serving a customer by the Court of First Instance in Ibri. The judgment — which includes three-month prison, a fine of OMR500 and compensation of OMR2,500 for the consumer — was issued against a furniture shop for failing to provide services as per agreed terms.
In an online statement, Public Authority for Consumer Protection said: “The Primary Court of Ibri sentenced a furniture company employee for violating the Consumer Protection Law, and convicted him of unfairly serving the consumer and sentenced him to three months, fine of OMR500 and compensation of OMR2,500 for the consumer.”
“The details of the incident dated back when a consumer complaint against one of the furniture company staff specialised in the installation of kitchens, doors and windows in which he agreed with the consumer to install seven windows with other tools but he failed to deliver for six months,” the statement added.
