Extensive Pakistan Festival to commemorate Oman’s 49th Renaissance Day

Muscat: More than 25 Pakistani artists will be performing in Muscat on the occasion of the 49th Renaissance Day.

Pakistan Festival, organised by the Pakistani community residing in the Sultanate in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan, is taking place to pay tribute to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The event is scheduled to be on July 26, 2019, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Talking to Times of Oman, Festival Coordinator and Director of the Pakistan Social Club Oman, Qamar Riaz, said, "this is the first time the Pakistan Embassy along with the Pakistani community in Oman has taken an initiative to celebrate Renaissance Day on such a large scale.

“The main idea behind this festival is to pay tribute to His Majesty for opening doors not just to our community but to various nationalities living in the Sultanate in peace and harmony. We would like to pay our utmost gratitude to him for the support and welfare he has provided to all."

“Pakistan Festival is open to all nationalities, completely free of charge. We have limited number of seats and can only accommodate up to 500 guests, while children below 10 are not allowed. So far, we have received an overwhelming response in a very short time and have already booked more than 400 guests,” Riaz added.

He continued by adding that a gathering at such a massive scale wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Ali Javed, Pakistani Ambassador to the Sultanate, and Alpha Events Oman, the sponsors of the festival.

“One of the ideas behind this gathering is also to show people and introduce them our culture, and strengthen existing ties with Oman. We are extremely excited and looking forward to the date, and hopefully, on the basis of the success of this festival, we will try to arrange it once in two years if not on a yearly basis,” Riaz said.

The event is divided into different phases such as a book launch, several cultural discussions, instrumental music sessions, a singing competition, and much more.

Popular Pakistani artists and intellectuals including Ustad Hamid Ali, Suhail Warraich, Syed Talat Hussain, Wajih Nizami, Atta ul Haq Qasmi, Dr Inam ul Haq Javed, Syed Salman Gilan, among others will be present at the festival to regale the audience.
