Muscat: The Sultanate will take part in Women in Parliaments Global Summit to be held in Jordan from May 4 to May 6, 2016.
The summit will be organised by the Women in Parliaments Global Forum (WIP) in cooperation with the House of Representatives of Jordan.
The Sultanate will be represented by Dr. Su'ad bint Mohammed Al Lawatiya, Deputy Chairperson of the State Council, Dr. Wafa bint Salim Al arasiyah, member of the State Council, Maryam bint Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjal, member of the State Council and Na'ama bint Jameel Al Busaidiyah, member of the Majlis Al Shura.
This Summit, co-organised with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), will be the first of its kind to be held in a Middle East and North African (MENA) country and will bring together female parliamentarians from all over the world.
The convening of the WIP Global Summit in Jordan comes in light of the progress made by women over the last several years, across the MENA region, to increase their participation in political decision-making. It presents a unique opportunity for participants to discuss the most pressing issues on the global agenda and engage in dialogue about the role and importance of female decision-makers in today’s world.
