MoH suspends registration of this medicine in Oman

Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has suspended the registration of the Zantac medicine in the Sultanate.

In a statement, the ministry said, “The Ministry decided to suspend the registration of Zantac medicines as a precaution.

It should be noted that the USFDA and the European Food Safety Authority didn’t recommend withdrawing or stopping the use of this medicine."

"The ministry advices patients to not stop using the medicine. And the Ministry continues follow-up any updates in this regard," MoH added.

On 15 September, 2019, MoH issued a statement: “According to warning issued from the US Food and Drug Administration reported that the Ranitidine medications, sold under the trade name Zantac, which is used to treat stomach acid and ulcers contains low levels of Nitrosamine."
