These islands are a haven for divers in Oman

Muscat: The Al Dimaniyat Islands stands out as a distinguished tourist destination in the Muscat governorate. It's pristine white sand beaches and blue waters beckon tourists.

Popular as one of the most beautiful diving spots in Oman, it is also a part of the Great Barrier Reef project, an international effort to build a nature reserve.

The Dimaniyat Islands Nature Reserve is located in Wilayat Al Seeb in the Governorate of Muscat and Wilayat Barka in Al Batinah. It lies about 18 kilometres off the coast of Barka, and 70 kilometres west of Muscat.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the reserve has a rich natural heritage and is replete with several kinds of rare coral reefs. The island is home to a large number of sea turtles that lay their eggs and nest there, and also is a magnet for migratory and indigenous birds.
