Muscat: A residential area where foodstuff was stored under unhygienic conditions was raided by Nizwa Municipality officials, the authority tweeted on its official Twitter handle.
“The store room was run by nearby cafeterias flouting norms. The unhygienic foodstuff was seized and destroyed by the officials,” the tweet added.
Three days ago, an unlicensed cooking place in Muscat, where food was being cooked and distributed among workers of different companies, was raided by Muscat Municipality officials.
According to Muscat Municipality officials, the food was prepared under unhygienic conditions and distributed to expatriate workers commercially, without possessing any licence.
A similar raid was carried out in Amerat last October, and an expatriate cook was arrested by Muscat Municipality officials.
Recently, as part of its campaign to protect the health and safety of consumers and residents, the authority had also cleared a number of areas along the seaside in Bausher where vendors were illegally selling Omani grilled meat, known as mashakeek.
