Muscat: A large number of people thronged the venues as Muscat Festival 2016 kicked off at Amerat and Naseem Garden.
The 16th edition of the festival is based on the theme “Live Oman” and will continue until February 13. This year’s version is characterised by wide international participation and a mix of traditional with modern events.
Amerat Park and Naseem Garden will be open to visitors from 4pm to 11pm all days of the week, except on the weekends (from 4pm to 12 midnight). Entry tickets can be bought from the stalls set up at the gates for 200 baisas for adults and 100 baisas for children.
The Al Amerat Public Park is hosting many events, including the Heritage Village of Oman event, which includes a competition for traditional arts, in addition to the popular market events.
It is also hosting an exhibition of science and technology and culture, folklore performances by groups from India, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Turkey and the Philippines.
In addition the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has also organised an exhibition for small and medium-sized enterprises and the animal products market.
Participants from different countries, including several Arab countries, will offer a multiplicity of entertainment and activities.
The Naseem Public Park is also hosting a lot of events, including a commercial fair, a family village and the children’s theatre, as well as educational and cultural programs in agriculture, sports and various sciences, and many other interesting events.
Activities at Naseem Garden aim to create an interest in arts and science among children.
Fireworks shows will be held at the Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens at 8:30 pm every day.
