Muscat: Four teachers from Oman have made it to the last 32 participants from among more than 12,000 educators who took part in the World Teachers Quiz.

The four teachers from Oman who made it to the top 32 were Bigimol Sebastian and Jaya John from Indian School Muscat, and Rubina Rose Khan and Ahemad Nadim Momin from Indian School Al Ghubra. Among them, Bigimol Sebastian made it to the World Semi Final.

The quiz, which features educators from 12 countries, was planned as a tribute to teachers and their outstanding efforts to aid learning during the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was organised by global educational portal Teacher Tribe, and held in collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services.

The series was hosted by quizmasters Giri ‘Pick Brain’ Balasubramaniam – who is a well-known figure when it comes to organising quizzes in the Sultanate – and Rashmi Furtado, a leading woman quiz host in Asia, on a digital platform called Quizital.

Conceptualised by a leading educator Rama Ranganathan, who comes with over three decades of experience in education, her vision was to ensure teachers experience the same events as their students, while celebrating knowledge.

The quiz premiered globally on October 5, 2020 to celebrate World Teachers Day.
