Muscat: A fine of OMR 1,000 will be imposed for cafes, restaurants and places serving shisha that violate the decisions of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19.
His Excellency Qais bin Mohammad Al-Youssef, Minister of Commerce , Industry and Investment Promotion, issued Decision No. 29/2021 regarding dealing with violators of the decisions of the Supreme Committee.
Article one states that the MoCIIP, responsible for monitoring the compliance of restaurants, cafes and places where shisha is served, may take the following measures if needed:
1- Recording violations in restaurants, cafes and places where shisha is served and seizing equipment.
2- Entering restaurants, cafes and places where shisha is served to verify compliance with the committee's decisions.
3- Issuing a report of the violation committed.
Article 2 of the decision stipulates that the Ministry would seek the assistance of the Royal Oman Police and the competent authorities in implementing the provisions of this decision. Article Three fixes an administrative fine of OMR 1,000 with closure for a month for a repeat violation. The fines collected will be transferred to the fund designated to fight the pandemic.
