Muscat: The second edition of the "International Dates and Honey Exhibition" kicked off on Sunday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The exhibition aims to introduce the latest products in the fields of dates and honey, expand commercial prospects and enlighten participating countries and exhibitors about quality of dates and honey products available in the Sultanate of Oman.

More than 35 countries are taking part in the week-long exhibition which ends on 26 October. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

The week-long exhibition sees the participation of 167 local companies and 71 international companies producing honey and dates, packaging companies and food processing companies specialised in dates and honey products.

The exhibition presents the latest modern technology applications used in the field of dates and honey products, a system for checking the quality of products offered by commercial companies and investment opportunities in the field.

The exhibition also aims to enhance communication between GCC states and other Arab countries, boost international relations, develop production mechanisms, benefit from global expertise and increase public awareness about the significance of these products to the local economy.
