Muscat – Oman Sail’s Winter Training Camp at the Mussanah Sailing School concluded after two weeks focused on developing the skills of talented young sailors from across the nation. Out of the 49 sailors present at the Winter Training Camp, 15 were also selected to represent the Asyad Sailing Team throughout 2025. Following a series of impressive performances during camp, Hassan Al Wahaibi, Tamim Al Balushi, Saoud Al Shaqsi, Firas Al Nabhani, Abdulrahman Al Hadi, Hassan Al Araimi, Firas Al Hashmi, Zakarya Al Ghafri, Sami Al Balushi, Hammad Al Mujaini, Redah Al Balushi, Mohammad Al Balushi will compete in ILCA 4 class, while Abdulatif Al Qasmi, Saleh Al Balushi, and Aws Al Busaidi will compete in the ILCA 6 class and represent Oman regionally and internationally.
The also camp provided an opportunity for Optimist coach Sultan Al Zadjali and ILCA coaches Munter Al Kindi and Ahmed Al Wahaibi to prepare the sailors, work on tactical and technical aspects of sailing and assess their physical fitness.
Abdul Aziz Al Shidi, Oman Sail’s Acting Director of Sailing, said, “This was a great chance to assess the progress of our young sailors in Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7 and 29er classes. We are preparing the teams to compete in a variety of events this year, and we are happy to see the sailors embrace the opportunity to learn from each other and improve on the water shows how committed the teams are. Training camps form the cornerstone of our training and development program, creating a supportive atmosphere where sailors can focus on the sport and fulfil their potential.”
