Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation today announced the start of online registration for the 8th edition of a programme to convert student graduation projects into startups. The programme targets Omanis and residents of the Sultanate of Oman who are students of higher education institutions (university diploma and postgraduate qualifications).
The programme seeks to motivate researchers and innovators and support institutions to transform ideas into innovative startups envisaged to generate added value that could contribute to sustainable economic development. The programme also aims to spread the culture of research and innovation support and empower innovators and talented students capable of excelling in the field of entrepreneurship.
The programme aims to encourage the growth of a knowledge-based economy, raise the Sultanate of Oman’s rating in global indicators, consolidate partnership with the private sector and provide sustainable sources of financing.
The current edition of the programme includes competition in emerging technologies, water projects and financial technologies.
The programme is undertaken by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in cooperation with partners from the public and private sectors.
