Muscat: In partnership with bp Oman, Al Masarrah Youth concluded its second cycle of the ‘Mahtat’ programme in a closing ceremony held under the patronage of Sheikh Saud bin Salim Al Maamari, Deputy Wali of Ibri. The programme trained 346 jobseekers specialised in electrical engineering degrees through various interactive, theoretical and practical workshops. The trainees developed their technical skills which allowed them to compete in the labour market, and 206 trainees achieved an official national license to practice electrical work across the country.
Suleiman Al Maqrashi, Project Manager at Al Masarrah Youth, added: “This programme is aligned with Oman Vision 2040 to empower and develop their technical skills. We believe that this partnership contributes to sharing knowledge and builds the capabilities of our Omani youth."
Ibrahim Al Hinai, Social Investment Manager at bp Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar, commented: “This programme plays a huge role in upskilling and equipping our local capabilities to compete the labour market, to improve the national employability rates and economy, whereby it trained a total of 374 trainees across the two cycles of the programme. The license enables them to work across the Sultanate for both personal and commercial projects. The programme is unique in how it links both the theoretical knowledge learnt at university and the practical work and skills required in electrical engineering current working fields.”
It is worth mentioning that this practical electrical license will allow the young Omani to legally practice electrical work independently, with the highest health and safety protocols and standards, with a total of 231 trainees gaining the license across the two cycles of the programme and 11 trainees were able to work on their individual projects.
