Oman pParticipates in 6th Forum of Environment Ministers of Asia, the Pacific

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 6th Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific (6th AP Forum).

This participation comes within the framework of Oman's chairing of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) to discuss environmental and climate issues, biodiversity, and pollution reduction.

Oman's delegation was led by Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority and Chairman of the Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7).

In a speech at the first regional forum for major groups and stakeholders in Asia and the Pacific, Al Amri affirmed the importance of the forum, which recognises the region's leadership, resilience, and connection to nature and community.

He pointed out that this forum is a fundamental part of the preparations for UNEA-7, which will be held under the theme "Advancing Sustainable Solutions for a Resilient Planet." He called on participants to build effective alliances and elevate the region's voice to formulate messages with a global impact, ensuring that the upcoming session is ambitious and comprehensive in its goals.

On the sidelines of the forum, Al Amri held a series of bilateral meetings with a number of environment ministers and representatives of groups and non-governmental associations. The meetings discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and joint cooperation in environmental fields, the impacts of climate change, and common global challenges in this regard. The Chairman of the Environment Authority also reviewed methods for ensuring the success of the conference through UNEA initiatives and adopting joint initiatives to enhance environmental work in combating desertification.

Oman's participation in this forum embodies its firm commitment to joint environmental action and the global sustainability agenda. It also underscores its pivotal role in driving regional cooperation to confront environmental challenges and build a more sustainable future for the region's peoples.
