Dhofar governorate starts receiving visitors for Sarb season

Taqah: Jabjat area in the Wilayat of Taqah, Dhofar Governorate started receiving visitors for the Spring season 'Al Sarb', which disseminates warmth in the wadis and pastures following the 'Khareef Season'.

Jabjat area is one of the main tourism destinations during the Sarb season, thanks to the greenery and the atmosphere that encourages family trips and camping, which makes it a destination favoured by visitors from the Sultanate and abroad.

Sheikh Tariq bin Khalid Al Hinai, Wali of Taqah, said that the increasing number of visitors to the area requires issuance of prior camping permits in order to protect the environment and curb random camping.

He said that these procedures aim to help and enable families and jobseekers to benefit from this tourism season.

He said that the departments concerned have improved the basic structure of the area by providing various services and facilities aimed at boosting the experience of visitors.

Ahmed bin Ghanim Al Ameri, Chairman of Taqah Municipality, said that the municipality has carried out all necessary preparations, including intensifying the cleaning works and maintenance of internal roads, in addition to preparation of camping sites besides the cleaning services of the public facilities and the lighting works.

He said that Taqah Municipality has allocated 15 kiosks for productive families and sites for commercial kiosks with all necessary services.

The Directorate General of Environment in Dhofar Governorate has launched for the fourth consecutive year the Environment Protection Project at Jabjat which kicked off on 17 September and lasts for the end of the tourism season.

The project aims to preserve the environment and boost tourism awareness through intensifying environment protection measures, he said urging visitors to cooperate with the environment team and to comply with the prescribed guidelines to ensure sustainability of the season.

A number of visitors expressed their delight over the organisation and the services available during this season along with their appreciation for the allocation of camping sites and the support of SMEs.
