Algiers: A delegation from the General Secretariat of the Shura Council visited the People’s National Assembly and the Council of the Nation in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
The visit aimed to strengthen administrative cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the general secretariats of legislative bodies, thereby contributing to the development of competencies and the advancement of professional capabilities among the staff of the General Secretariat.
During the visit, the delegation met with the President of the Council of the Nation and the Secretary General of the People’s National Assembly.
Both sides emphasised the importance of continuing such visits, which foster the exchange of legislative and administrative expertise, enhance channels of mutual cooperation, support institutional development in both councils, and strengthen parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries.
The delegation also held meetings with their counterparts and specialists at both the People's National Assembly and the Council of the Nation.
The discussions included an overview of Algeria’s legislative experience and the stages of its legislative process, as well as a review of the adopted digitalisation mechanisms and future plans aimed at integrating digital transformation across various legislative and administrative domains.
As part of the programme, the delegation visited the library of the People’s National Assembly, where they reviewed its resources and specialised references that serve researchers and members of the legislative bodies.
Additionally, the delegation attended a detailed presentation on the National Assembly building, learned about the contents of the Algerian Official Gazette, and were briefed on the roles of the Directorate of Media, Communication, and Publishing under the General Secretariat of the People’s National Assembly.
The visit also included field tours to several relevant institutions, such as the Constitutional Court and the Ministry of Relations with Parliament, where the delegation gained insights into the roles of these entities and the mechanisms of coordination between them and the legislative authority represented by the People's National Assembly.
The delegation visited the Great Mosque of Algiers, one of the most prominent religious and cultural landmarks in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
