New initiative announced to support, empower persons with disabilities

Muscat: BP Oman, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Development, and the A’Dhahirah Governor's Office, announced a national initiative aimed at providing equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the Sultanate of Oman through training and education.

The new "Gift to the Nation" initiative from BP Oman includes two main programs: preparing a simplified and accessible digital curriculum and providing training opportunities for both government employees and persons with disabilities job seekers.

This initiative is a continuation of the "Gift to the Nation" initiative implemented by the company in 2020, through which national educational curricula were digitized, benefiting more than 600,000 students. The new initiative aims to make the digital curricula more inclusive for grades 1 to 4, benefiting approximately 8,000 additional individuals.

The second program of the initiative will offer training workshops which include: Training government employees in public-facing roles on effective communication methods with persons with disabilities.

Training persons with disabilities to prepare them for integration into the labor market and raising community awareness.

The program's first phase will be implemented in the A’Dhahirah Governorate, with plans for subsequent roll-out across all governorates, aiming to benefit more than 44,000 people across the Sultanate of Oman.

The "Gift to the Nation" program was developed in partnership with national institutions and will be implemented over five years. Its goal is to support the Sultanate of Oman's efforts by achieving sustainable and long-term benefits to enhance the education and employment of persons with disabilities.
