Everything you need to know to protect yourself from Mpox.

Muscat: The Ministry of Health in Oman has issued an advisory for the Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox. It is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus.

What are the symptoms?

Often starts with a fever, headache, muscle aches and fatigue (Similar to flu like symptoms).

This is followed by a distinct rash that can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, genitals, and anus.

How does it spread?

Direct skin to skin contact with the infected person, especially with a rash.

Touching contaminated towels, bedsheets and clothing.

Prolonged face-to-face contact through respiratory droplets.

How to protect yourself

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water

Avoid physical contact with anybody showing mpox symptoms.

Avoid touching contaminated objects.

What so do if you have symptom?

Seek medical help immediately.

Isolate yourself and cover any lesions to protect others.
