World Antimicrobial Awareness Week observed in Al Dakhiliyah

Manah: Under the theme "Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future," Nizwa Hospital observed World Antimicrobial Awareness Week at the Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate on thursday. The event aimed to enhance public understanding of the critical threat posed by antimicrobial resistance and promote responsible medication practices to combat the spread of treatment-resistant infections.

The ceremony featured a comprehensive visual presentation by Dr. Khalifa bin Hamad Al Shaqsi, Senior Consultant Physician at Nizwa Hospital, which detailed the hospital's statistical data on antibiotic resistance and outlined ongoing initiatives to address this pressing health challenge.

Dr. Amina Khalfan Al Jardani, Senior Microbiology Consultant at the Central Public Health Laboratories, delivered an expert lecture examining the current landscape of microbial resistance, including its fundamental causes and transmission patterns.

The event further encompassed an educational exhibition organized through the collaborative participation of multiple governmental and private sector institutions, serving to amplify the vital message of antimicrobial stewardship.
