
With H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in attendance, the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025™ officially kicked off at the renowned Al Bayt Stadium, as Qatar welcomed fans from across the region to the second edition of the prestigious competition. The opening match saw Palestine claim a 1-0 win over Qatar in front of 61,475 spectators.
Prior to the match, spectators were treated to a dazzling tournament opening that celebrated Arab unity and the region’s diverse identities, shared heritage, and enduring historic bonds. It featured compelling musical compositions and majestic performances by renowned Syrian actor, Rashid Assaf and acclaimed British actor, Jeremy Irons.
The opening day also saw Syria beat Tunisia 1-0 in front of 26,966 spectators at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.
Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, said: “The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 will bring nations across the Arab world together and create memories for players, coaches and supporters. I look forward to seeing all 16 teams shine and deliver an exciting competition ahead.”

A total of 16 teams are competing at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025™ taking place from 1-18 December, across six venues that have previously hosted matches during the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. The Final will be held on 18 December at the iconic Lusail Stadium.
