Social forum aims to foster a culture of self-reliance

Salalah: The Directorate General of Social Development in the Wilayat of Salalah, Governorate of Dhofar, today organised a forum on empowering families, promoting social and economic sustainability in the Wilayat and supporting entrepreneurship.

The forum, aimed to foster a culture of self-reliance, elaborated on the concepts of economic empowerment and outlined the services and programmes provided by the authorities concerned to household businesses and micro-enterprises.

The forum included two dialogue sessions. The first dealt with services and incentives offered to family-run businesses and entrepreneurs by the SMEs Development Department. It also outlined the services of the Social Protection Fund in the Governorate of Dhofar and explained the services of the Development Bank.

The second dialogue session discussed success stories and experiences of productive families and highlighted the challenges and opportunities in the field of family-run projects.

The activities of the forum also included a visual display titled “Economic Empowerment”.
