
Muscat: The Al Buraimi Governorate Police Command has detained eight individuals involved in illegal gambling. The arrests took place in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi following an investigation into illicit activities within the local community.
The suspects, all of Asian nationality, were apprehended after being found engaging in gambling activities, which are strictly prohibited under Omani law. Authorities have confirmed that the raid was part of ongoing efforts to monitor and curb activities that compromise public morals and social stability.
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) stated that all eight individuals are currently in custody. Legal proceedings are being finalised against them before they are referred to the relevant judicial authorities for further action.
In another incident:
A citizen of was arrested by the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations for stealing parts (catalytic converter) from several vehicles he had previously rented from car rental shops in the Governorate of Muscat. An Asian expatriate who participated in dismantling and selling the stolen items was also apprehended. Legal proceedings are being completed against them both.
