Muscat: The 10th edition of the Italian Design Day in the World will be celebrated in Muscat from 2 to 4 February 2026, reaffirming Italy’s commitment to promoting design and architecture as drivers of sustainability, innovation, and social well-being.
The 2026 edition titled “Re-Design. Regenerating spaces, objects, ideas, relationships”, invites reflection on the role of design and architecture in regenerating urban spaces and rethinking objects, processes, and relationships to improve everyday life and strengthen communities.
Through this lens, Italian Design Day highlights how thoughtful design can contribute to more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient environments.
The initiative places particular emphasis on the Italian experience in urban regeneration, drawing from Italy’s cities as living laboratories shaped by centuries of stratification, adaptation, and innovation.
These cities embody a model that integrates sustainability, social inclusion, and technological advancement, an approach that, while rooted in local identity, has proven adaptable and replicable internationally through cooperation projects with partner countries.
At the same time, Italian Design Day 2026 will showcase Italy’s leadership in the regeneration of objects and products, inspired by the principles of the circular economy.
The use of recycled materials, attention to product life cycles, and innovative production chains underline Italian design’s capacity to merge aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility.
Commenting on the occasion, Pierluigi D’Elia, Ambassador of Italy accredited to the Sultanate of Oman stated: “The Italian Design Day represents a powerful platform for dialogue between Italy and Oman. Through the theme of regeneration, we aim to share Italy’s expertise in design and architecture as tools for sustainable development, cultural exchange, and the improvement of quality of life for future generations.”
