
Muscat: The total number of mobile service subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 7 percent by the end of 2025, reaching 8,054,413 subscriptions, compared to the same period in 2024, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Active postpaid mobile subscriptions rose by 3 percent to 1,273,795 subscriptions, while prepaid subscriptions recorded a 1 percent increase to 5,148,166 subscriptions.
Internet of Things (IoT) subscriptions registered significant growth of 42 percent, reaching 1,632,452 subscriptions by the end of December 2025.
Internet services also witnessed notable development. The total number of active mobile broadband subscriptions rose to 5,421,911, while active fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 3 percent to 598,907 subscriptions.
Fibre optic subscriptions grew by 9 percent to 356,897 subscriptions, while fixed 5G subscriptions recorded a slight increase of 1 percent, reaching 219,862 subscriptions by the end of December 2025. In contrast, fixed 4G subscriptions declined by 53 percent to 10,448 subscriptions.
Subscriptions to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services decreased by 34 percent to 9,856 subscriptions, while satellite internet subscriptions surged by 173 percent to 1,101 subscriptions. Other internet subscriptions—including services via power lines, Ethernet, and leased lines—declined by 9 percent to 743 subscriptions, compared to the same period in 2024.
