Madayn issues tender for first phase of Suwaiq Industrial City

Muscat : The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has officially announced a tender for the infrastructure and utilities development of the first phase of Suwaiq Industrial City in the North Al Batinah Governorate.

The first phase will develop five million square meters, including the construction of an internal road network, water, electricity, and sewage networks, as well as other essential facilities and services. The tender also includes the construction of several greenhouse units to implement modern hydroponic farming techniques, contributing to food security and boosting agricultural investments and related industries.

Hamoud bin Abdullah Al Balushi, Assistant Director General of Suwaiq Industrial City, stated that although the industrial city is still in the process of developing its infrastructure, it received more than 12 investment applications in various sectors and activities during the first half of 2025.

Two contracts were signed, the first for a project specialising in the production of polyethylene terephthalate from recycled plastic, to be built on an area of 2,394 square meters, with an investment exceeding US$360,000. The second contract is for a project specializing in the refining of industrial oils, to be built on an area of 4,500 square meters, with an investment of US$600,000.

He added that the industrial city administration is continuing to review other investment applications, with required plot sizes ranging from 2,394 to 100,000 square meters, specialising in the marble industry, bitumen and its derivatives production, starch and its products, interlocking tile manufacturing, pipe manufacturing, substation components manufacturing, soft drink and beverage production, a drilling equipment factory for oil and energy fields, environmentally friendly insulating gypsum brick manufacturing, and logistics warehouse construction.

It is worth noting that the Suwaiq Industrial City represents a qualitative addition to the system of industrial cities in the Sultanate of Oman, due to the distinguished investment opportunities and competitive incentives it offers, and the advanced infrastructure it will provide.

The city also plays an important role in reducing the geographical disparity in the distribution of investments, as the North Al Batinah Governorate constitutes a vital strategic area from both a logistical and human perspective.
