
Muscat: The Shura Council on Wednesday received a delegation from the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies of the Arab Republic of Egypt, headed by Major General Mohamed Mahmoud Awad, Director of the Academy, as part of the delegation’s official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, who expressed his appreciation for the visit, highlighting the strong and longstanding fraternal ties between Oman and Egypt, welcomed the delegation.
He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and expanding knowledge exchange with academic and military institutions.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General outlined the Council’s legislative roles, particularly in reviewing draft laws referred by the government and those proposed by the Council.
The delegation was also briefed on oversight tools available to members under the Council of Oman Law, as well as the Council’s role alongside other state institutions in national decision-making and in achieving Oman Vision 2040.
The session further covered the functioning of the Council’s permanent committees, procedures of regular sessions, and the role of the General Secretariat in providing technical support.
Efforts toز parliamentary diplomacy at regional and international forums were also highlighted.
The delegation members expressed appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality, commending the notable progress and achievements of Oman’s Shura experience in legislative and institutional work.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Council’s facilities, including the main chamber and modern electronic systems used in session management, such as the electronic voting system and mechanismsم members’ interventions.
The delegation also visited the Council of Oman Library and reviewed its collection of recent publications and studies.
The visit comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations and promoting the exchange of expertise, contributing to enhanced cooperation between Oman and Egypt across various fields.
