Barcelona: The Sultanate of Oman successfully concluded its participation in the International Seafood Exhibition 2026, held in Barcelona, with Omani companies signing commercial deals and agreements exceeding OMR30 million.
According to Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), the Omani pavilion attracted strong interest from regional and global markets. The event facilitated engagement with importers and distributors from Africa, Europe, and Asia, opening new avenues for expanding Omani exports and strengthening global confidence in the quality of national products.
Khaled bin Sulaiman Al-Salehi, Director General of Marketing and Commercial Affairs at Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), highlighted that participation in such international exhibitions represents a direct investment in boosting exports, accessing new buyers, and reinforcing Oman’s presence in global markets.
During the exhibition, “Madayn” showcased investment opportunities in the industrial sector, particularly in fish industries. These included projects related to fish processing and preservation, crustaceans, molluscs, aquaculture, and specialized retail outlets. The authority also collaborated with relevant entities and consultancy experts to prepare preliminary feasibility studies for high-quality investment opportunities in the sector.
For its part, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources emphasized that participation aligns with efforts to increase the fisheries sector’s contribution to GDP. The ministry noted that Oman’s fish production exceeded 900,000 tonnes in 2025, with exports reaching 84 countries worldwide, alongside notable growth in processing industries, value-added products, aquaculture investments, and supply chain infrastructure.
Officials stressed that the exhibition provided a platform to exchange expertise and explore the latest innovations and technologies in the seafood sector, contributing to the development of production and marketing systems in Oman.
Representatives from Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones pointed out that the event offered strong opportunities to attract investments into special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities, supported by competitive incentives and an integrated business environment.
The participation also aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, aiming to build an integrated and sustainable fisheries sector by enhancing product quality, adopting global best practices, improving supply chain efficiency, and positioning Oman as a leading regional hub for marine industries.
Officials affirmed that Oman’s presence at the exhibition reflects its commitment to expanding international partnerships, strengthening exports, and reinforcing its reputation as a reliable source of high-quality seafood products.
