Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) on Tuesday began to implement a public opinion survey on water conservation conduct in residential establishments in the Sultanate of Oman.
The survey is implemented in cooperation with Nama Water Services Company (Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company) and it will run until 21 May 2026.
The survey aims to study water conservation habits among urban residents and it seeks to understand the factors influencing water conservation practices at household level. It thereby contributes to supporting water demand planning and promoting the sustainable use of water resources.
The survey focuses on a number of themes related to the attitudes of individuals towards water conservation. It deals with public awareness about the importance of conservation and the extent to which it benefits individuals and society. It also demonstrates the level of commitment to water-saving practices, as well as the influence of the social environment in adopting certain conducts.
The survey, based on a sample segment of 1,500 Omanis aged 18 years or more from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, reflects geographical and demographic diversity.
The survey highlights the keenness of the NCSI to support decision-makers with reliable data and indicators. It also seeks to consolidate partnerships with relevant parties in a bid to maintain the sustainability of national trends in water use.
