Ministry of Transport mandates cargo documents for all truck operations

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology(MTCIT) has issued a public notice calling on all beneficiaries of truck-based cargo transport services to comply with regulations requiring the issuance of a transport document before commencing any freight movement operations.

The ministry stated that the requirement applies to all stakeholders involved in goods transportation by trucks, including operators of land transport management and dispatch applications, as well as foreign truck operators entering the Sultanate of Oman.

The measure comes as part of broader efforts to regulate the land transport sector, improve the efficiency of goods transportation procedures, and enhance compliance across the industry.

According to the ministry, mandatory issuance of transport documents will help regulate and monitor cargo movement, raise levels of regulatory compliance, and safeguard the rights of all parties involved in transport operations.

Beneficiaries can access the service and issue the required documentation through the Nafith electronic platform.

The ministry emphasized that adherence to these requirements forms a key component of the regulatory framework governing Oman’s transport sector and supports ongoing efforts to modernize logistics services and strengthen sector governance.
