OPAZ Board of Directors holds its third meeting for 2026

Muscat--- The Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) held its third meeting for 2026, chaired by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

The Board discussed several topics on the agenda, most notably the preliminary directives regarding the corporate governance of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates "Madayn" and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD). Additionally, the Board reviewed the draft executive regulation of the Special Economic Zones and Free Zones Law.

Regarding the topics related to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates "Madayn," the Board approved the updates to the Madayn Vision 2040 and the establishment's phased plan for the 2026-2030 period. These were aligned with the objectives of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones to enhance integration, focus on improving performance, and determine strategic priorities. The Board also reviewed the executive status of the restructuring project for the subsidiaries of Mubadrah Company.

Furthermore, the Board viewed a visual presentation on the National Net Zero Strategy 2050, detailing its targets and supporting plans aimed at achieving the Sultanate of Oman's commitments to environmental sustainability and carbon emission reduction.

In an effort to enhance media operations within the Authority, the Board reviewed the results of a study on the current state of media in the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. This included recommendations and proposals to develop media work and strengthen corporate communication. The Board also examined the communication and media strategy map, the pillars of media messaging for the upcoming phase, as well as the relevant indicators and governance framework.
