Muscat: The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has strengthened its position in the global innovation ecosystem through strategic investments in Cambridge Capital Innovation and Oxford Science Projects, gaining access to a portfolio of leading startups in life sciences, healthcare and advanced technologies.

The investments are aimed at accelerating knowledge and technology transfer to the Sultanate, creating opportunities for future partnerships and supporting the country's transition towards a knowledge-based economy while delivering sustainable long-term returns.

Through its investment in Cambridge Capital Innovation, OIA is connected to an ecosystem that transforms cutting-edge university research into commercially viable companies.

The portfolio includes CMR Surgical, a developer of advanced surgical robots that improve precision and reduce the invasiveness of operations; Pragmatic Semiconductor, which produces flexible, low-cost chips for Internet of Things applications; Immotrin, focused on innovative antibody therapies for diseases including cardiomyopathy; and Riverlane, a company developing quantum error-correction technologies essential for next-generation quantum computing.

OIA's investment in Oxford Science Projects provides access to one of the world's leading university spinout platforms, supporting companies developing breakthrough technologies in quantum computing, healthcare and life sciences.

Its portfolio includes Quantum Motion Technologies, which is building scalable quantum processors; Ravine, a developer of advanced biomolecular analysis technologies that support drug discovery and gene therapies; Osler Diagnostics, which produces rapid, portable diagnostic devices for healthcare settings; and Oxford Quantum Circuits, a pioneer in quantum computing systems and applications.

Ibrahim Al-Isri, Head of Private Markets Investments at OIA, said the Authority's growing presence in the global innovation ecosystem reflects its conviction that advanced technologies are among the key drivers of economic, scientific and social development.

He said investing in companies pioneering healthcare innovation, quantum computing and other emerging technologies enables OIA to stay at the forefront of global technological advances while exploring opportunities to transfer expertise and technologies to Oman and strengthen knowledge exchange.

Al-Isri added that the investments support Oman's ambitions in the technology sector while generating sustainable financial returns from fast-growing industries with strong long-term potential.

The investments form part of OIA's Generations Portfolio, which manages overseas investments across more than 50 countries. The portfolio focuses on achieving sustainable financial returns through diversified, long-term investments while supporting innovation and future economic growth for the Sultanate.
