Oman condemns Colombia’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over Occupied Golan Heights

Muscat: Oman condemned Colombia’s decision to recognise Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, saying the move violates international law and contradicts international legitimacy resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981.

In a statement issued on August 12, Oman’s Foreign  Ministry reaffirmed that the Golan Heights are occupied Syrian territory and expressed support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial unity. Oman also called on all countries to respect the UN Charter, international law and relevant UN resolutions.

Colombia’s decision, announced on August 10, makes it the second country after the United States to formally recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
