Muscat: Under the patronage of Khalid bin Salem Al Ghamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour Affairs, the 5th Symposium on Critical Infrastructure Security and Safety opened on Tuesday in Salalah.
The event is bringing together more than 350 participants, 35 experts and specialists, and 36 technical papers from Oman, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Arab region and the international community.
Being held from 7–9 September, 2026 at the Sultan Qaboos Cultural and Entertainment Centre in Salalah, the symposium addresses some of the most pressing challenges facing critical infrastructure, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, smart surveillance, biometric identification, emergency and risk management, business continuity, smart fire protection, and the security of oil & gas, energy, ports and airports.
Brigadier General (Ret.) Eng. Saeed Al Asimi, CEO of the Security and Safety Foundation, stressed that critical infrastructure security is no longer simply about responding to incidents—it is a proactive national and institutional responsibility built on preparedness, technology, training, data-driven risk analysis and early threat detection.
Running alongside the symposium, the 1st Security & Safety Exhibition showcases the latest technologies, systems and solutions in protection, surveillance, firefighting, risk management and smart security.
Over three days, Salalah becomes a regional platform for shaping the future of critical infrastructure protection—with one clear message:
