Beijing: Oman Duty Free today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Duty Free International (CDFI) to enhance cooperation within duty-free markets and trade retail sectors. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the People's Republic of China.
The MoU was signed by Sayyid Nasr bin Badr Al Busaidi, CEO of Oman Duty Free, and Dou Xiaoqiong, Managing Manager of China Duty Free International.
The agreement aims to develop the business operations of Oman Duty Free, attract leading global brands to the Sultanate of Oman and support the company’s international expansion. This is envisaged to be achieved through the exchange of expertise in store operations and product management, as well as cooperation in supply chains and franchising within travel retail outlets.
The growing investment interest from China Tourism Group (the parent company of China Duty Free International) in the Sultanate of Oman will contribute to supporting and developing Oman’s tourism sector.
The partnerships scheduled to be realised in the sectors of travel, hospitality and retail will highlight the Sultanate of Oman as an attractive destination, paving the way for Oman to draw a larger number of Chinese tourists.
