Muscat: Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoud Al Manthrei, Chairman of the State Council received on Wednesday Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Duchy of Luxembourg and his accompanying delegation, within the framework of his current official visit to the Sultanate.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and means of promoting existing cooperation between the Sultanate and Luxembourg.
They also discussed situations in the region, as well as several international issues of common concern.
Dr. Al Mantheri stressed the importance of this visit and its role in enhancing bilateral relations and opening new tracks of cooperation between the Sultanate and Luxembourg, as well as strengthening ties and supporting existing relations between the Sultanate and the European Union (EU).
He added that the Sultanate seeks to achieve peace, security and stability at the regional and international levels. It also urges dialogue to solve disputes by peaceful means.
The Luxembourg official hailed the progress being witnessed by the Sultanate in all fields. He affirmed his country's keenness to strengthen the existing relations with the Sultanate. He also praised the wise foreign policy being pursued by the Sultanate according to the wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
He also highlighted the Sultanate's efforts and its leading role in protecting the regional stability and supporting the global peace.
He added that the Sultanate is considered a role model in calling for cementing values of dialogue, tolerance and coexistence among nations.
The meeting was attended by honourable Salim bin Mohammed Al Riyami and honourable Said bin Ali Al Kalbani.
