Cooperation pact inked to promote Omanisation in energy sector

Muscat: Oman LNG has signed a strategic cooperation program with the Oman Energy Association OPAL aimed at developing national competencies, strengthening Omanization pathways linked to training and employment, and enhancing local added value in the energy sector.

The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Labor as part of efforts to align workforce development with job market requirements, particularly in areas related to practical training. The program is expected to support localization plans for vital roles within projects and across contractors’ operations.

The cooperation framework includes the implementation of long-term development and competency enhancement programs spanning three to five years. These initiatives are designed to qualify and empower Omani talent to assume critical roles in a sustainable manner.

The program also seeks to establish sustainable employment pathways and promote long-term economic value by building qualified and competitive national capabilities within the energy sector.

Oman LNG has already achieved an Omanisation rate exceeding 90 percent within its workforce and is steadily progressing toward surpassing 85 percent Omanization across its direct contracts. The company emphasized that expanding employment opportunities across additional skill areas will continue without compromising safety standards or operational competitiveness.

Eng. Hamad Al Nu'amani, Chief Executive Officer of Oman LNG, stated that strengthening local content and supporting Omanization pathways represent a core pillar of the company’s long-term strategy and reaffirm its commitment to developing national talent into sustainable employment opportunities that contribute to continuous added value for the Omani economy.
