Oman, Sri Lanka explore investment opportunities

Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, met on Tuesday with Harsha Amarasekera, Chairman of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The meeting discussed opportunities for economic and investment cooperation in special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities.

Both sides explored partnership prospects across a number of promising sectors, particularly commercial and real estate development, with a view to supporting economic growth and enhancing investment flows between the two countries.

The two parties reviewed successful experiences in the development and management of special economic zones and exchanged views on best practices in this field, in a manner that improves the efficiency of economic zone management and enhances their competitiveness.

The meeting also addressed mechanisms for strengthening the business environment and attracting high-quality investments, as well as opportunities to benefit from the expertise of small and medium enterprises in Sri Lanka. Both sides discussed the transfer and exchange of successful practices and expertise, in a way that supports innovation and enhances the contribution of this vital sector to economic development.

During the meeting, both parties emphasised the importance of continued joint cooperation and the exchange of expertise and knowledge in a manner that serves mutual interests and contributes to the achievement of sustainable economic development. -ONA
